My Story

Our Psychologist

Marie Ghorra

I am Marie, I have a master’s degree in clinical professional psychology and cofounder of the mental health clinic Psychology Services based in Zahle Bekaa region in Lebanon.

Since 2015, I have had experience working with children, adolescents and adults in community mental health, hospitals, and non-profit settings, prison and drug rehab centers in individual and group setting.

My areas of special interest:

  • Anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, perfectionism, phobias, performance anxiety)
  • Depression
  • Suicidality
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions (e.g. migration, career change, relationship status etc.)
  • PTSD
  • Gender based violence and survivors of torture
  • Stress and burnout
  • Cross-cultural issues
  • General wellbeing
  • People from LGBTIQ community

 

My therapeutic approaches:

I am trained in and use Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma focused interventions, I am also informed by positive psychology and psychodynamic approach, I am trained in Problem management + (PM+), and Transference focused psychotherapy for personality disorders.

I am also a member at the Lebanese psychological association (LPA), the American psychological association (APA), and currently participating in seminars with ALDEP.

 

I have received and provided many trainings on mental health and psycho-social support topics with non- profit organization and the ministry of health

When not working, I enjoy creative writing, reading, sports, and spending time with my rescued cats.
